international buyers, please read...

in the past i put a piece of rigid cardboard with paintings so they wouldn't bend in transit; this meant that they shipped at the package rate rather than the letter rate. the postage rate for 1 and 2 ounce packages just went up to $6.55; to keep international postage rates low i'm going to switch to using heavy, but flexible, paper with paintings so they'll ship at the letter rate. if you want your painting shipped with rigid cardboard let me know via e-mail after you purchase the painting, and i will send you an invoice for an additional $4.50. if i don't hear from you, i'll send the painting out via letter rate at $2.50.

thank you and let me know if you have any questions! ~ lynne

(within the U.S. paintings will still ship with rigid cardboard)

leah

'leah' ~ watercolors, sumi ink, gouache and graphite on 123# arches cotton paper, 4" x 6"

as i wrote on my other blog, i'm calling all beings that have wings or feathers 'intercessors' these days.  leah is a white intercessor of the highest order...

the color is most accurate in the top pic even though the paper looks like it's not rectangular.

as you can see here, it is.  ah, this picture taking...

leah's been sprayed with a protective fixative.

anna lee

'anna lee' ~ watercolors, gouache and graphite on heavy canvas paper, 4" x 6"

when i was painting anna lee, considering different colors for shading,  i had the thought, "well, if you can't make her look right at least make her interesting."    yep, that's the thought i had.  ; )

this is a portrait of her as a young girl; she grew up to be a tall and elegant woman...

anna lee resting in a 'book box' that i just made...

she's painted on heavy canvas paper, which is paper that has a  canvas-like surface, and she's been sprayed with a protective fixative.

elsē, hymn, & melusina

'elsē' ~  watercolors, gouache and oil pastels on old book page, approx. 4" x 6"

elsē is the name of a character in the book this page was taken from.  in fact, on the back of the page the title of the chapter is 'elsē's story'.  what i liked about this side of the page is the flower that you can just see in the area of her nose and eye...

she's been sprayed with a protective fixative...

' hymn' ~ colored pencils and graphite on dura-lar, 4" x 6"

the words on the side of this piece are from a song by a.a. bondy titled 'i can see the pines are dancing'.  they read:

this is a hammer.
this is a hymn.
this is a match to a ball of lies.
this is the beauty.
these are the stars raining down from the sky.

in my mind every painting is a hymn, a hammer and a match...

a picture of the piece without white paper behind it, so you can see it this way.  i like leaving the dura-lar (a synthetic surface that's great for colored pencils) translucent so you can choose what to put the piece over.  and i like that everything changes when it's not against white.  she'll come with a piece of 4" x 6" white paper, though...

'melusina and the rose' ~ watercolors, goauche, colored pencils and graphite on 'colourfix' paper, 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"

melusina the wild girl, with her precious rosebud...

she's painted on 'colourfix' paper, which is a rough paper used primarily for soft pastels, so that's the texture you see.  it's not easy to photograph!  i just can't seem to capture her in pics; she's quite soft and not harsh as she appears here...

she's been sprayed with a protective fixative.

'elizabeth' ~ watercolors, sumi ink and oil pastels on old book page, approx. 4" x 6"

elizabeth,  quiet and strong...

you can just see in the top left corner of the pic that the page was torn from the book; otherwise all of the edges are straight.  she's been sprayed with a protective fixative.

'letitia and friends' ~ colored pencil and graphite on yupo, 4" x 4"

letitia, the leaf, and flower were drawn on a a 4" x 4" piece of white yupo, which is a polypropylene (i.e. some kind of plastic) surface normally used for watercolors.   for some reason  i can't get a sharp picture of this piece; the drawings have a fine, delicate look that can only be achieved on a surface that's extremely smooth.  unfortunately this doesn't come across in the pic, especially the crispness of the lines.  in person this is a very sweet and delicate piece.

i didn't spray it with a fixative, because for one thing i don't know what kind of fixative to use on yupo, but also because i don't think it needs it.  it was a slow process getting the color on there and i don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon.  : )

the acrobat's daughter

'the acrobat's daughter' ~ oil paint on collaged canvas board, 4" x 6"

'the acrobat's daughter' was inspired by picasso's 'saltimbanque' (circus performer) drawings and paintings.  their figures are both strong and fragile at the same time; they somehow capture *everything* to me.

so you can see the edges of the piece... i haven't varnished her because i like her the way she is, with some matte and some shiny areas. but if you'd like i will varnish her with gloss varnish before i send her off.  just let me know...

$25 + $3 postage to anywhere in the world

SOLD

thank you!
